ALL ABOUT THIS WEBSITE
This website is dedicated to the wild and crazy life of Greg Kelley. Greg fought stage IV colon cancer for 4 years before he finally succumbed to the disease at the age of 48, many miss him. This site keeps his memory alive and carry’s on his legacy; it’s also a way to spread the word about colon cancer in a bizarre but effective way. .
This bottle represents the memory of Greg Kelley, a way of remembering why he died; a symbol of hope. One day the jar was sitting on Mom’s kitchen counter and I decided to dress it up, Mom found a pair of sunglasses and Al and I started looking for props. It was a great healing experience for all of us; a “star” was born and he was nominated the Colon Cancer Afterlife Spokesperson. Greg’s words “my death will save your life” have come true for his 5 other siblings who have endured the drinking of the infamous 3oz. “Fleet” bottle preparing for a colonoscopy. This has ensured that the polyps they may find (yes a few of us are every 3-year visitors) are detected at an early stage. The places this jar has gone are phenomenal. The photographs have evolved from 2002 to present. The people who have “borrowed Greg” have become more and more creative. It’s been a great way to spread the word on colon cancer and the importance of getting screened.
If you know of someone fighting this disease, please visit the colon cancer links and share it with them. If you want to learn more about colon cancer, please visit the colon cancer links. If you want a good laugh, visit the monthly and yearly archives on Greg’s travels along with some funny youtube videos
If you’d like to bring Greg on a trip here are the rules:
1. You must take digital photographs (or convert 35mm to digital.)
2. Any props (I encourage this) that you use in Greg’s pictures become part of his luggage and are the sole property of Greg.
3. Greg must have a great time!
4. He must be returned!
If you decide to take Greg on a vacation and someone asks what the bottle is, tell them “This jar represents Greg Kelley, who died at the age of 48 from colon cancer, visit his website for more information.” This brings awareness to the words Colon Cancer and hopefully the “someone” who visits this page becomes more educated about COLON CANCER through my links and schedules an appointment with their doctor. If you are under the age of 50 and have family history, talk to your doctor about scheduling a colonoscopy. If he says no, find another doctor! Don’t procrastinate about it!
